Asking only when something is missing

The agent fills in what the company already knows, and asks for the rest.

"I need a conference trip" sounds like a complete request. It isn't. The request never says a budget. A human buyer would ask. An agent that guesses will confidently recommend the wrong thing.

At work that means

  • Fill in what the system already has. Admins already set the rules. The system already knows the cost center, department, and shipping address.
  • Ask only for the gap. The agent asks when it really doesn't know. It does not interrogate everyone.
  • More questions can be the right trade. Some people get asked more than they expected. That is better than a confident wrong recommendation.

A budget question appears when the request does not say.
